Stalking

Deer stalking in Scotland has got to be one of the most majestic and challenging sporting experiences available. The Scottish Highlands are home to the Red deer population where they live in their natural habitat among the wild and rugged hills, mountains and woodland, venturing onto the lower ground in the winter. A day on the hill can be a truly memorable experience with so much to learn from a professional stalker. A red stag silhouetted on the horizon during ‘the rut’ has got to be one of the most magical scenes to be witnessed.

The Red deer is the largest mammal in Britain and has been a true survivor over the centuries, even through the Ice Age when their natural woodland habitat was buried under the ice. Deer stalking has become a popular sporting pursuit and is now very much a sporting tradition, whilst contributing to deer management.

We can help you organise any of these ahead of your stay with us, or for some of them once you arrive.

AND EXTREME SPORTS

OUTDOOR

Perthshire straddles the Highlands and the Lowlands, offering a rich variety of scenery. Highland Perthshire is magnificently forested and the region has become branded as ‘Big Tree Country’ – a name well deserved. The wide and graceful River Tay – Scotland’s grandest river – flows through the region from its source in serene Loch Tay, whilst great rolling mountains make a perfect backdrop. Hidden gems include winding Glen Lyon and beautiful Glen Tilt.

Further south the mountains become heather clad moors and finalling billowing hills as Perthshire descends to the fertile farmland stretching from Strathearn to Perth and up to Blairgowrie. This variety means there are walking routes cater for all levels of fitness, from easy family rambles, through longer, more strenous hikes to ascents of the major Munro summits. To the east, the excellent Cateran Trail straddles the border with Angus. Each route is downloadable to your GPS.
